В своєму проекті “Знищений архів” Поліна Щербина по-іншому осмислює багаж пам’яті. Вона апелює до поняття “палімпсесту”. Так само як колись зі старих листів пергаменту стирали стирали застарілі тексти і писали нові, Поліна стирає зі своїх полотен старі академічні постановки. Процес стирання (прання), тобто знищення стає одночасно і етапом створення роботи. Адже фінальним результатом цієї праці стають нові проявлені структури і візерунки на випраному полотні. Історія полотна, зафіксована таким чином, стає його головним сюжетом.
