More about Charlie
Hi everyone!
My name is Charlie and I am overjoyed to be the new English Language Resident here at America House Kyiv. I’m originally from a small town north of Boston, Massachusetts, but I’ve been all over the United States and Europe.
I have a degree in history and international politics from West Virginia University and am finishing a master’s degree in peace, security, and development from the University of Belgrade (Serbia). However, I’ve been teaching English for almost 5 years now.
My English teaching journey began in Albania, where I served as a Peace Corps volunteer in a central Albanian village and worked with students in an elementary and middle school. A few years after that, I moved to Kyiv, where I worked in a private school with children as well as training teachers. Prior to starting at America House, I worked with Ukrainian adults learning English online.
I love teaching English, and I really love getting to know my students and seeing their progress. I would describe my teaching style as very communicative and supportive, engaging students in thought-provoking subjects and improving their level and confidence at the same time.
