America House Kyiv OverDrive Library

The America House Kyiv OverDrive Library is a free virtual library, open to residents of Ukraine, aged 14 and above. The elibrary is powered by OverDrive — a free service that lets you borrow digital content (like ebooks and audiobooks). Basically, it’s a digital library you can access anytime, anywhere!  

America House Kyiv is offering its own catalog, curated by American Spaces staff in Ukraine, which also includes America Houses in Kyiv, Odesa and Lviv and Windows on America across the country. The elibrary has a wide variety of titles in English to suit everyone's interests: fiction and nonfiction on subjects such as culture, history, science and entrepreneurship. All you need to get started is a library card!

There are 5 easy steps to get your America House Kyiv OverDrive library card: 

1. Fill out the registration form below to receive your free personal account; 

2. After submitting, you’ll receive a confirmation at the e-mail address you registered with; 

3. Allow up to 10 business days for us to process your request; 

4. When the account is active, we’ll let you know over e-mail; 

5. Once you have that, check out the most frequently asked questions to get started!

FAQs

  • With a digital library card, you can access the catalogue of available ebooks and audiobooks both through the website and mobile apps, such as OverDrive or Libby. Titles can be borrowed for 1-3 weeks, depending on the title. The catalogue offers only digital items and does not have any physical materials.

  • American Spaces Ukraine Staff have selected a wide range of titles for you to learn, grow and have fun. The collection includes award-winning titles in English, books on creative thinking and entrepreneurship, human rights, mental health, and so much more! And it is completely free!

    The library will be growing, and we will be updating the list of titles on a regular basis, so if you have any book recommendations, please submit them to us using this form.

  • Find and borrow a title with just a few taps. You can use the Libby and OverDrive platforms in your browser or use the free apps of the same name, available on the App Store and Google Play. Through them you can borrow ebooks and digital audiobooks from your elibrary. Titles can be borrowed for 1-3 weeks, depending on the title. You can listen and read them with Wi-Fi or mobile data, or download them for offline use anytime, anywhere.

    1. Once you are notified that your library card is active, download the Libby app or OverDrive app from your device's app store.

    2. Open your preferred resource and find the America House Kyiv Library.

    3. Browse the library's collection and borrow a book. When prompted, sign in with your library card credentials.

    4. Enjoy! Borrowed titles appear on your Shelf and download to the app automatically so you can read them when you're offline.
