American Studies Club: History of Rock 'n' Roll

Can music encourage racial cooperation and shared experience? Rock'n'roll is something beyond a musical style – it defined a generation's dream and a way of life for many. Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, and the early Beatles—is music that anyone can play and that everyone can dance to. Though the golden age of rock may be long gone, during this rockin' evening we will uncover the origins of the unique American music genre Rock ‘n’ Roll that has been embraced all over the world. The presentation will include video, photos, archival footage and live performance for a discussion about this pivotal art form of the 20th century and beyond. There will be a quiz with fabulous prizes!
