Short Story Club will feature a variety of short stories by American writers, coupled with a discussion about the meaning and language used in the text.
On December 4th we will discuss "Good Country People" by Flannery O'Connor.
This event is a part of #AHInclusivityWeek. Join our virtual events during November 30th to December 7th to help build a more inclusive and barrier-free society for persons with disabilities.
In "Good Country People," O'Connor uses irony and a finely controlled comic sense to reveal the modern world as it is. When a stranger — deceptively polite but ultimately evil — intrudes upon a family, neither the daughter, with her advanced academic degrees, nor the mother, with her stereotyping perspective, is able to see what is bad, with destructive consequences.
You are welcome to read the story here.
