“Tiny Shoulders, Rethinking Barbie” – American Film Nights at AHK

Join us for a documentary film screening taking place at America House Kyiv and participate in a discussion about the creation of Barbie and its effect on culture and beauty standards with the film “Tiny Shoulders, Rethinking Barbie" (2018) from director Andrea Blaugrund Nevins.

This special screening is part of the American Independence Film Festival.

“Tiny Shoulders, Rethinking Barbie” (2018)

Barbie, the most popular doll ever created, is a fashion icon and a target for feminists. This telling documentary features new footage, access to Barbie's biggest reinvention, and examines over 60 years of women through the lens of an 11.5-inch plastic doll.

Spots are limited, but if you can’t make it this time, we’ll be happy to see you at our other events. All film screenings and discussions will take place at America House Kyiv (Mykoly Pymonenka Street 6.)

Please familiarize yourself with the rules of admission before your visit. Remember to bring your passport or driver’s license to enter America House Kyiv. 

Important! Should the sirens go off during programming, America House Kyiv will immediately close for business and evacuate the building. We recommend you find the closest bunker provided by the city before your visit. We use the Shelters in Kyiv City bunker map provided by the city as well as the metros. Your safety should always be a top priority.
