In fact, I am convinced that anyone who does not have serious health problems is quite capable of make it through space flight at the technological level at which it is available today,»- claims Yaroslav Pustovyi, Ukrainian astronaut and engineer, Director of Safety at Maritime Launch Services.
New space — what is it? Just yesterday, the world's leading countries had a monopoly on space activities, and today youth startups and private companies are playing an increasingly important role in space discovery and exploration. Although companies such as SpaceX and the so-called "GAFA" (Google, Apple, Facebook, Amazon and others) have significant visibility, the space industry is beginning to be led by fewer companies based in the United States, and smaller companies from all over the world are entering the sphere of commercial cosmonautics.
What does the future of space exploration and technology development look like with the entrance of commercial companies into the arena? Dr. Yaroslav “Yarko" Pustovyi is a space industry professional with career experience in the sector since 1988. Formerly an astronaut with the National Space Agency of Ukraine, Dr. Pustovyi was trained by NASA and served as a Backup Payload Specialist for the STS-87 Space Shuttle Columbia mission in 1997. Following his return to Ukraine, Dr. Pustovyi continued his active involvement in the Ukrainian space program, working both in research institutions and at the space agency, where he played an active role in the development of the Ukrainian National Space Program during 2003-2007 and other space research programs. As one of the first government-trained astronauts to join Newspace, Dr. Pustovyi continues his active involvement in the commercial spaceflight industry through a variety of entrepreneurial, consulting, educational and other endeavors. In 2014, Dr. Pustovyi joined the Board of Directors of the Canadian Space Commerce Association, where he served as President and was elected Chairman of the Board in 2016.
Dr. Pustovyi has 20 years of media experience, public appearances and speaking. Through being involved in government space programs of several countries, as well as in the commercial spaceflight industry, Dr. Pustovyi brings a unique view on the perspectives of international space development.

Ярослав "Ярко" Пустовий — професіонал космічної галузі з 33-річним досвідом. Раніше космонавт Національного космічного агентства України, доктор Пустовий пройшов навчання в NASA і був дублером у місії STS- 87 Space Shuttle Columbia у 1997 р. Після повернення до України, Ярослав продовжував брати активну участь в українській космічній програмі, працюючи як у науково-дослідних установах, так і в космічному агентстві, де зробив вагомий вклад у розвиток загальнодержавної космічної програми України у 2003-2007 рр. та програм космічних досліджень. Як один з перших космонавтів, який пройшов урядову підготовку щоб приєднатися до програми Newspace, доктор Пустовий продовжує діяльність у комерційній космічній галузі та долучається до підприємницьких, консалтингових та освітніх сфер. У 2014 р. Ярослав Пустовий увійшов до Ради директорів Канадської асоціації торгівлі у космічному секторі, де займав посаду президента, а в 2016 році був обраний головою правління.
Доктор Пустовий має 20-річний досвід роботи в медіа та публічних виступах. Залучений до державних космічних програм кількох країн, а також до комерційної космічної галузі, доктор Пустовий має унікальний погляд на перспективи розвитку міжнародного космосу.
