Short Story Club is the perfect place for you to learn more about American culture through its literature, keep your reading list updated, and improve your English at the same time. Talk about multitasking, right?
In each session we will discuss a different short story as well as its meaning and the language used in the text.
On December 14th we will discuss an excerpt from A Christmas Carol, "Marley's Ghost" by Charles Dickens.
Despite being forced to drop out of school and work in a factory when his father was put in a debtors' prison, Dickens created some of the world's best-known fictional characters and is often regarded as the greatest novelist of the Victorian era. In chapter 1 of his novella A Christmas Carol, “Marley’s Ghost,” a greedy old miser by the name of Ebenezer Scrooge is visited in the night by an old friend, who warns him to change his ways before it is too late.
You are welcome to read the story here.
