Facilitating Human Connections in Virtual Workshops

Are you tired of staring at screens, listening to monotone voices, or nervous about boring your virtual audience? In these unprecedented times where all workshops and trainings have moved online, come join this workshop and learn how to maintain human connection virtually. This workshop will cover four key principles discussed in the IREX article "Four principles for maintaining human connections in online collaboration and learning" (https://bit.ly/362WAUG).

Whether you are new to virtual workshop facilitation or have gained experienced over the years, this workshop will cover methods and strategies to enhance your virtual connections with participants. This workshop will leave you aware of the key differences between in-person and online training, strategies to enhance your engagement, and prompt you to reflect on your virtual facilitation skills and content so that your participants say "yes!” to your next invitation, instead of “not another online session!”

Jessica Lane provides technical leadership in online and in-person training design and delivery to build the capacity of global civil society, media, and grassroots individuals and organizations. She specializes in training design and implementation, leadership and media literacy curriculum development and facilitation, blended-learning, communications, and partnership building. Prior to joining IREX, Jessica supported the International Peace and Conflict Resolution department at American University’s School of International Service where she was trained in interactive conflict resolution methods including dialogue facilitation. Before this, she served as an AmeriCorps member in Texas at the nonprofit organization College Forward, where she focused on access to higher education for first-generation and low-income youth. She previously worked in the publishing field in Chicago.

Please register to join the event. The deadline to register is May 26th by 12:00 PM. Before the workshop you'll receive an email with the link to the online meeting, you must open this link to join the program.
