American Food Stories: Traditional Salmon Pie

American Food Stories are back and this time we prepared something very special - Thanksgiving pies. Discover the most popular Thanksgiving pie recipes and cook them for your beloved ones.

If you are familiar with American Thanksgiving, you probably think of turkey and pumpkin pie. It is true that today when Americans celebrate Thanksgiving they get together with families and friends and have a very large meal that focuses mostly on turkey, stuffing, pumpkin and apple pies. The first American Thanksgiving took place in 1621 at Plymouth Colony where some of the first American settlers, called Pilgrims, celebrated with Native Americans who had helped them discover the foods native to the New World. It is believed that this first celebration most likely included fish, berries and fruit that were found in the region where the celebration was held. Even today, many families change the menu a little to reflect the region where they live. So, Mariia Sorokina and Robin Gray of the Foreign Agricultural Service at the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv are preparing a traditional salmon pie. Enjoy!
