Austin is a native of Oregon but currently a PhD student in Geography at the University of Kansas, where he also teaches Human Geography and World Regional Geography. He is currently completing his dissertation on the topic of identity among Internally Displaced Peoples from Crimea living in mainland Ukraine. Austin has spent a great deal of time living and traveling in Ukraine and other countries in the region, including all former republics of the Soviet Union. He is excited to answer any questions about his research, his travels, academia in the United States, or any other topic!
