During our fifth session, we will be exploring the meaning of identity and belonging in poetry. We all have interlaced identities, as members of families, communities, nations, and more. However, identity contains multitudes and each individual's idea and experience of their own identity varies. We will read Identity and Community (There is no "I" in "Sea") by Brenda Shaughnessey. Her poetry has garnered attention this century, focusing on the ideas of identity and womanhood.
Poetry in the Garden will be every other Thursday at 6:30 PM. Let the calm of our garden inspire your love for poetry and community.
Attendance and participation are free. You just need to let us know if you’re coming by registering for the event in advance. We’ll save you a spot and keep you posted about any changes.
