Poetry in the Garden With Charlie: Poetry and Nature

  • America House Kyiv 6 Mykoly Pymonenka Street Kyiv, 02000 Ukraine (map)

Introducing Poetry in the Garden, a new summer series at America House Kyiv. Join us in AHK’s peaceful Urban Garden to enjoy English-language poetry as the sun sets. Led by AH English Language Resident Charles St. Pierre, each session will explore themes like love, travel, and loss through poetry.

During our third session, we will discuss poetry and nature. Nature has long served as an inspiration for artists, and poets are no exception. The beauty and mystery of the natural world has long drawn verses out of both the brilliant and the not-so-brilliant. Our discussion this week will start with one of the brilliant ones, Gary Snyder, and his poem Kyoto: March. Snyder has been described by critics as the poet-laureate of deep ecology, and his work reflects the intertwining nature of man's relationship with the environment.

Poetry in the Garden will be every other Thursday at 6:30 PM. Let the calm of our garden inspire your love for poetry and community.

Attendance and participation are free. You just need to let us know if you’re coming by registering for the event in advance. We’ll save you a spot and keep you posted about any changes.

📍 The deadline to register is July 31st by 12:00 PM.

The event will take place at America House Kyiv (Mykoly Pymonenka Street 6.) Please familiarize yourself with the rules of admission before your visit. Remember to bring your passport or driver’s license to enter America House Kyiv.

See you soon!
