Join us at America House Kyiv for the first event in the Black Sea Speaker Series 2024-2025. On November 26, Tamar Vashakidze, the lead for UN Women Georgia’s work on governance and women's participation in public life, will discuss women’s empowerment. Bringing over 17 years of experience in gender equality, Tamar has dedicated her career to advancing women’s rights with a focus on issues such as women’s political empowerment, violence against women, domestic violence, peace and security. Prior to joining UN Women, Tamar held positions with UNFPA and Oxfam GB, where she contributed to transformative programs that empower women and promote gender justice. Tamar holds an LL.M Degree in Democratic Governance and Rule of Law from Ohio Northern University and B.A. in Law from Tbilisi State University.

The Black Sea Speaker Series is a regional, hybrid initiative of the U.S. Missions in Bulgaria, Georgia, Romania, Serbia, Amenia, Moldova, and Ukraine to educate youth leaders and emerging voices about key opportunities and challenges impacting countries on the Black Sea or in the region nearby. Through digital American Spaces platforms, the missions will convene audiences to engage with subject matter experts on a range of topics of strategic importance.
