About the America House Kyiv Creative Writing program:

The America House Kyiv Creative Writing program is a 6-month course that aims to support the skill development of emerging Ukrainian voices. Through a series of storytelling and writing workshops with experienced writers, facilitators and editors, participants improve their writing and English skills while gaining practical experience in writing, editing and publishing. Works created by the participants during the program are featured in a print publication from America House Kyiv.

On February 2, 2022, America House Kyiv launched the fourth round of its Creative Writing program facilitated by Casey Carsel — artist, writer, and, at that time also a 2022-2023 Fulbright Student Award recipient. On February 24th, Russia began a full-scale invasion against Ukraine. Over the next 7 months, participant would meet virtually every 2 weeks, capturing their experiences and emotions in writing. “A Home We’ve Built” is a printed publication, created as a result of their work.
