The rise in cyber-attacks globally affects governments, corporations, civil society, and everyday citizens. With more and more things being connected to the internet — from industrial equipment to IT networks to smart phones and other personal devices, there are plenty of targets for those looking to cause harm. This panel discussion will take a look at who's behind the cyber-attacks and hacks, what the impact has been globally and what both the private sector and the public sector can and should be doing to respond and prevent future attacks. It will also include things that individuals should be doing to protect their devices and data.

About the speakers:
Bob Jensen advises and consults with nations and corporations on crisis, emergency, disaster risk management, communication strategy, countering disinformation and “Fake News”. During his 32 years as a civil servant, Jensen led the U.S. Government’s on the ground crisis communications efforts after the massive earthquake in Haiti, for the Deepwater Horizon oil spill response and 30+ major U.S. disasters including Hurricane Sandy. He served as a spokesman for the White House’s National Security Council and the U.S. Embassy Baghdad and deployed on four combat zone tours to Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Afghanistan.
Mark Pfeifle is the founder and president of the strategy and communications firm, Off the Record Strategies. Previously, Pfeifle served as deputy assistant to the president and deputy national security advisor for strategic communication and global outreach. Pfeifle has expertise in crisis communications, disinformation and “fake news", social media, social activism and emerging technologies, foreign policy challenges, cybersecurity in general, cybersecurity in banking and finance, software licensing, global health diplomacy, and artificial intelligence. He executed high-impact policies and strategies, including the effort to promote the “surge” of U.S. forces into Iraq in 2007-08, and communication initiatives to de-legitimize al Qaeda. Pfeifle is in demand among members of the press corps, appearing frequently on national networks including CBS Evening News, BBC, TVN POLAND, MSNBC, CNN, and Fox News.
Dr. Igor Kotsiuba is an expert in Cybersecurity and Industrial IoT, founder of the cybersecurity agency iSolutions. He holds a Ph.D. degree in Information Technology and is a member of IEEE. Dr. Kotsiuba is a participant of the EU Horizon Research and Innovation and a key expert in regional EU projects. Igor is interested in interdisciplinary research and innovation projects in digital forensics and cybersecurity in smart and critical infrastructures, cybercrime (criminology and policy research), virtual currencies, and crypto-assets anti-money laundering. He is among the list of top 21 Digital4Development influencers to follow in 2021.

На цій панельній дискусії ми розглянемо, хто стоїть за кібератаками та зломами, як вони впливають на світ у глобальному контексті та що можуть і повинні робити представники приватного та державного секторів, щоб реагувати та запобігати атакам у майбутньому.
