Short Story Club is the perfect place for you to learn more about American culture through its literature, keep your reading list updated, and improve your English at the same time. Talk about multitasking, right?
In each session we will discuss a different short story by an American writer, as well as its meaning and the language used in the text.
On June 14th we will discuss "Testimonial" by Edwidge Danticat
Edwidge Danticat is a Haitian-American novelist and short story writer. Danticat’s writing often explores themes of national identity and mother-daughter relationships. In this short story, a woman who has recently lost her mother thinks about her role in a sisterhood of women who share a devotion to the memory of their enslaved ancestors.
You are welcome to read the story here.
