Short Story Club is the perfect place for you to learn more about American culture through its literature, keep your reading list updated, and improve your English at the same time. Talk about multitasking, right?
In each session we will discuss a different short story by an American writer, as well as its meaning and the language used in the text.
On March 1st we will discuss "The Lottery" by Shirley Jackson.
The story describes a fictional small town which observes an annual rite known as "the lottery," in which a member of the community is selected by chance. The shocking consequences of "winning" the lottery are revealed only at the end.
You are welcome to read the story here. Text provided by CommonLit.
This Short Story Club session will be on Monday, March 1st at 5:00 PM.
