Short Story Club is the perfect place for you to learn more about American culture through its literature, keep your reading list updated, and improve your English at the same time. Talk about multitasking, right?
In each session we will discuss a different short story by an American writer, as well as its meaning and the language used in the text.
On February 1st we will discuss "Home" by Gwendolyn Brooks.
Gwendolyn Brooks was an American poet, author, and teacher. In 1950, she was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry, which made her the first African American woman to receive the honor. Her writing often explores the experiences of ordinary people and their communities. In this short story, a family contemplates losing their house.
You are welcome to read the story here. Text provided by CommonLit.
This Short Story Club session will be on Monday, February 1st at 5:00 PM.
