Podcast Club

This weekly program will provide participants with a great way to learn about a variety of topics, while practicing their English listening and speaking skills! Each hour-long session will feature a podcast, followed by a discussion about the meaning and language used in it.

During each session you will discuss a podcast followed by listening.

On January 19th you will listen to "My Road Trips with Martin Luther King" with Tom Houck - how a white teenager accidentally became the personal chauffeur to a civil rights leader. You can also do the listening on your own before the session here.

Tom Houck was just 19 years old when he was asked by Dr Martin Luther King's wife to be a driver for their family. It was 1965 and although Dr King had been awarded the Nobel peace prize the year before the country was deeply divided. Widespread segregation between the white and African-American citizens had just come to an end but discrimination and racism were still commonplace. Tom continues to combine activism and driving in his work now, running Civil Rights Tours Atlanta.

Podcast Club will be on Tuesday, January 19th at 5:00 PM.
