Virtual Program. Peacebuilding 101: The Anatomy of Conflict

Conflict is a natural part of human existence.
Peacebuilding efforts aim to manage, mitigate, resolve, or prevent conflicts without resorting to deadly violence.

Knowledge and understanding of methods and how peacebuilding works is nowadays crucial not just for civil society overall but for every human being.

We are starting a series of virtual peacebuilding webinars with Aaron Chassy, who has an extensive experience in developing and implementing peacebuilding programs, to provide you with a basic understanding of key terms and concepts in the peacebuilding practice.

The focus will be less on the academic and theoretical and more on the actual experience developing and implementing programs. Therefore, these webinars will offer a more detailed look at the issues and challenges peacebuilding practitioners confront "in the field." Where appropriate, Mr. Chassy will introduce some academic insights as well as perspectives working in the larger context of U.S. foreign policy and development assistance.
These webinars draw primarily upon Mr. Chassy's experience designing and evaluating standalone peacebuilding programs as well as those integrated with development sectors - e.g., natural resource management, agriculture, health and education. Finally, he will provide participants with suggestions about where they can go to learn more about this and other, related topics.
