Everyone knows that film is a big business that takes a lot of time and involves huge investments. Although there are some fabulous stories of low-budget films that have made large sums of money, most films usually end up at a loss to the financiers and producers. When it comes to making successful films, the necessary business skills, planning, and execution strategy are just as important as the creative aspect to the overall project.
This workshop is an overview of the foundational aspects to structure your project. We will break down some of the key business management steps on how to develop, finance and complete an audiovisual project.
This workshop requires registration.
This workshop is intended for participants with a basic understanding of film production and an upper intermediate level of English. The skills presented in this program are foundational and will help participants start their creative journey on the right foot.
The workshop will be lead by Derrick Swanepoel, who is a founder and CEO of BAOBOAB, a young studio-model film company that offers a full ‘turn-key’ film production ecosystem. With over 20 years experience in business, Derrick founded and managed ventures in various industries such as IT, farming, construction, hospitality, and manufacturing. Since 2016, and when time permits, he does private business coaching for filmmakers. Derrick is originally from South Africa and now lives in Ukraine with his wife and son.
