What is the capital of Cuba? Who is Celia Cruz? How do you make ropa vieja? To answer these questions and learn more, join Bianca and Adrianna Navia, two Cuban-Americans from Texas, for an engaging and fun chat about Cuban history, politics, culture, food, and music.
Meet our speakers:
Bianca Navia:
I’m a senior at Arizona State University studying Political Science and Global Studies with minors in German and Italian. I’ve been interning with the AH Blog for over a year, and I love that I can share the diversity of American culture. I’m really excited to have the opportunity to share my family’s Cuban heritage with you all!
Adrianna Navia:
I am a junior at the University of Kentucky pursuing a double degree in Political Science and International Studies with minors in Spanish, History, and Gender and Women’s Studies. I am a PROUD Cuban-American, and I strive to bring my heritage into all aspects of my life. I am involved on campus with the Latino Student Union, and I serve as a Lead Mentor for Leading Latinas, a mentorship program for local high school Latinas. I am also the Founder and President of Hay Que Hablar, a Spanish conversation club based at the Lewis Honors College at the University of Kentucky.
We’ll be streaming this session to our Facebook page October 13th. Join us at 5:00 pm and feel free to ask any questions you have.
