Come to America House and meet the US reporter Hugh Lessig and the award-winning photographer Jonathon Gruenke.
Speakers' bios:
Hugh Lessig writes about Newport News Shipbuilding and other defense contractors in Hampton Roads. He occasionally writes about workforce training issues and military history. He previously covered the military and state politics for the Daily Press, where he began work in 1997. He received a bachelor's degree in journalism from Moravian College in Bethlehem, Pa. He is a Pennsylvania native and a lifelong newsman.
Jonathon Gruenke is a staff photographer for the Daily Press in the Hampton Roads region of Virginia. He has worked previously for the Kalamazoo Gazette and the Saginaw News. He graduated from Central Michigan University in 2006 with a major in Journalism and a major in Broadcast and Cinematic Arts.
Gruenke was named Virginia Photographer of the Year by Virginia News Photographers Association in 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016. In addition, his photographs have won numerous Virginia Press Association, Southern Newspaper Publishers Association, Michigan Press Photographers Association, and Associated Press awards.
