American Lit Club: The World of The Short Story

We’re exploring the world of the short story this week! Raymond Carver’s terse, powerful style has been called both ‘literary minimalism’, and ‘dirty realism’, - but he was himself suspect of categorizing his work. Call them what you will, his short stories are some of the most original and influential of the twentieth century. We’ll read both ‘Why Don’t You Dance?’ (1981), and ‘Put Yourself in My Shoes’ (1974), and discuss possible meanings, as well as the techniques Carver used to achieve them.

Remember to bring your passport or driver's license.

This event is free.
